How a small social presence grew into a broader communications role.

Context

RPD’s social presence was small when I began working on its communications. Over time, the need expanded well beyond social media to timely, dependable public information across routine operations, major incidents, emergencies, recruitment, data transparency, and community programs.

Scope

I built and managed much of the department’s day-to-day public-facing communication across social media, web, video, live updates, data transparency, recruitment, and community participation, often working with substantial autonomy on subjects where accuracy and judgment mattered.

Result

The channels grew into working public-information tools rather than promotional feeds. Facebook grew from 3,161 followers to more than 44,000, Instagram from zero to more than 10,000, and the comment analysis above shows that the broader communication approach increasingly changed how people responded to the agency itself.

The Results

Clear words and good judgment produced strong results.
